Online Roulette - Online Casino Games

Online Roulette

Online Roulette is one of the oldest casino games, with origins said to date back to ancient Greece. With so much time to evolve, the online roulette games of today are the pinnacle of gaming entertainment. Thousands of players enjoy a multitude of variations of roulette, including European Roulette, American Roulette and French Roulette. Although all variants are based on the same simple principles, each come with their own intricacies that should be learnt before joining the high-stake tables. A good online casino will offer demo tables where you can learn and then master your chosen online roulette variant.

All variants of online roulette are based on predicting where a ball will land on a spinning wheel. The wheels is made up of numbers and colours and is spun by the croupier – the casino official that oversees games of online roulette. The number of slots (also known as compartments or pockets) depends on which roulette game played, but the bet choices are simple for all variants:

  • A bet on a single number
  • A bet on a colour (of three: green (only for the number zero), red or black)
  • A combination of the above

Other bets include betting on ranges of numbers (or a colours and numbers mixture), which have specific names depending on which variant you play. Don’t worry; you will pick them up with time! The odds (i.e. the return on a successful bet) increases with the accuracy of your prediction. If, for example, you successfully pick the right number (a “straight-up bet”) then your bet will payout at a ratio of 35:1 (depending on which variant of online roulette you are playing). Meaning a winning bet of £10 will return £350!

Betting on the colour is significantly less risky as the wheel is divided between red and black equally. The chances of winning are much better but the payout reflects this, with returns at evens i.e. 1:1 or double. Therefore, put £10 on red and you will win £10 and get your stake back. Nice, but the big winnings lie with the “straight-up” bets.

Some players will hedge and eliminate some of the risk (and a proportional amount of the payout) by betting on ranges of numbers known as street or corner bets (and more). Additionally, French Roulette introduces the players to a host of new bet types (and French words!). One serious advantage of online roulette is that you can forget all the technical (some time French) words and simply place your chips on the numbers you want - the croupier will wait for you and you get the exact bet you want.

Online roulette, like all casino games, should be enjoyed at a quality casino. Look for one that offers demo games, promote attainable sign-up offers and are contactable through live chat. You can play online roulette at 32Red Casino and Dash Casino.
